We are seeking a Director of Data Science to join our growing company. As the Director of Data Science, you will lead a team of data scientists in a dynamic scientific and clinical environment where rigorous data analysis and stewardship are critical to success. This role offers the opportunity for great impact, leadership development, and strategic involvement.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a team of data scientists to support the development, deployment, and commercialization of pregnancy diagnostic products.
  • Collaborate across multiple departments in the organization including Executive, Commercial, R&D, Clinical, Laboratory, IT, Project Management, and expert consultants.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of the company’s next generation of data science infrastructure including data management and analysis platforms/procedures/pipelines.
  • Participate in the development of intellectual property, company presentations, and publications.
  • Oversee the development and sharing of rigorous scientific data analyses and evidence development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of industry experience in bioinformatics and/or data science.
  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computer science, or related field.
  • 5+ years managing employees and leading project teams.
  • Proven collaboration across departments and disciplines.
  • Experience working in regulated pharmaceutical, medical device, or clinical laboratory environments.
  • Deep experience analyzing scientific/clinical data sets, especially using tools such as R.
  • Strong statistical background with formal training or equivalent working experience.
  • Experience designing, documenting, and executing data analysis plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a highly coordinated environment with project management and possess excellent planning skills.
  • Exceptional leadership, team building, collaborative skills, and eagerness to take ownership.
  • Location in Salt Lake City, Utah (Hybrid) or Seattle, Washington (Remote).

A successful candidate will also possess the following

  • Experience with proteomic data is an asset.
  • Experience developing clinical diagnostic tests and/or clinical research is an asset.
  • Experience in several of the following areas: biostatistics, machine learning, contemporary data management methods, scientific publishing/writing, R programming skills, SQL.

The budgeted salary for this role is $200,000/yr. DOE and includes an excellent benefits package featuring an 85% to 95% premium paid healthcare plan, 14 paid holidays, three weeks of paid time off, employee stock options, and more!
