We are seeking a Data Engineer to support our growing company. As a Data Engineer, you will have the opportunity to design data pipelines and supporting infrastructure from the ground up, the right way, the first time. You will be the data engineering expert on the Data Science Team as we work with complex and diverse datasets. You will work with stakeholders to ensure the business utility of those datasets, build ETL/ELT pipelines to encode business and scientific knowledge, and design views to ensure datasets are easy for stakeholders to consume. Many of these tasks involve complex on-prem data sources and databases, but this position will also support new cloud-based products. Your contributions will help improve mothers’ and babies’ health and change the world for the better.

Location

Remote with the option for hybrid or in-office work for those candidates in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area who are interested.

Hours

M-F with core hours of 10am-3pm MST.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, creating, and maintaining the Sera Prognostics data pipeline architecture to support new and existing products.
  • Ingesting and modeling complex datasets that meet business and scientific requirements from diverse fields such as public health, clinical evaluations, and laboratory results.
  • Identifying, designing, and implementing internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes.
  • Building required infrastructure for optimal ETL/ELT of data from various data sources using SQL and supporting technologies.
  • Working with stakeholders including data science, quality assurance, product development, commercial, and executive teams and assisting them with data-related technical issues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum BS/BA degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in data engineering or closely related field.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work effectively in a remote or hybrid setting.
  • Expert SQL skills with knowledge of database design and management.
  • Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT methods and database/warehouse design methodologies.
  • Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools, including those which are compatible with on-prem data solutions.
  • Experience with cloud data infrastructure.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in biotech, medical diagnostics, or other heavily regulated field.
  • Working knowledge of software engineering and/or data science principles.
  • Experience with CI/CD and IAC.

  • Dependent on experience and qualifications, the salary range for this role is $100,000 – $115,000 annually and includes an excellent benefits package featuring an 85% to 95% premium paid healthcare plan, 14 paid holidays, three weeks of paid time off, employee stock options, and more!
